What to Bring

Comfortable shoes, mosque-appropriate clothing, camera/phone, a small bag, sunglasses & sunscreen (summer), a light jacket (cool season), water.

Important Information

Guests who do not speak English can get a separate ticket with an audio guide in their preferred language instead of joining the group. Tickets skip the ticket queue at Hagia Sophia and the Basilica Cistern but not the security queue (Hagia Sophia security can take up to 60 minutes in high season, Basilica Cistern up to 30 minutes). The Hagia Sophia ticket grants access to the Visitor Area and Upper Gallery, not the prayer area. Knees must be covered; if wearing shorts, a body cover can be rented for 100 TL. The Basilica Cistern may undergo renovation after April 28 — in that case the tour visits the Theodosius Cistern or the 1001 Direk Cistern instead. No wheelchair/stroller access. Reservation arrangements at Hagia Sophia are ongoing. Payment/Cancellation: free cancellation up to 24 hours before; partial payment available (50% now, remainder later).
